Meet Our Staff
Jim & Myria
Jim and Myria have had the privilege of owning Jim’s Automotive Service for the last (number of years)years! The business started in a one bay shop and has since expanded to five bay service stations as a result of their continued commitment to excellent customer service and trustworthy automotive repair. Jim has been in the automotive industry for over 30 years and repaired thousands of vehicles.
When Myria can pull Jim away for the shop they can be found spending time boating or camping. Myria also enjoys rock hunting and has a good collection of rocks. They have five grandchildren and will often times have one of them at the shop assisting them for the day! Jim says,” You can never start them out to young on repairing cars!”
Matt is our certified diesel technician!
Matt Dertinger has been with Jim’s Automotive since 2010 and is our lead mechanic. We are still trying to find something that Matt can’t fix! Matt attended Lincoln Technical Institute and specializes in Automotive and Diesel and is ASC certified. He continuously strives to keep up to date on all the newest and greatest in the automotive world. One of his goals is to work on the first self-driving car. When Matt isn’t working on cars, you will find him off -roading with his customized Jeep that he made into a Rock Crawler. If it’s a toy with a motor, Matt’s gotta have it!
Felipe joined Jim’s Automotive in Fall 2016 after graduating from Lincoln Automotive. He is a thorough and hard working technician that gives 100% every day and soaks up new training and techniques like a sponge. Felipe’s drive is one the reasons he fits in so well with the team as he continues to grow each day and his desire to help customers get back on the road to their own adventure is fueled by his love of learning even more in the industry.
An avid hiker, even after being chased up a tree by a mountain lion, Felipe loves being outdoors and can often be found outside of work playing soccer or volunteering with the local Lift Up. His first experience with cars came from rebuilding classics with his grandfather and he hasn’t put the wrench set away since. He can be seen with his arms buried in his own engine on his days off and is always looking to learn something new about the industry and vehicles he loves.
Josh recently moved to Glenwood Springs with his wife Josie. Josh previously worked at Tires Plus as a Service Manager and brings a vast knowledge of automobiles to Jim’s Automotive. His goal is to provide our customers with easy to understand explanations regarding their repair. Josh believes we drive our cars everyday and should know more about how they operate in order to make informed decisions.
Josh enjoys hiking, biking, camping and just about anything outdoors with his wife and dog. You might also find him building legos or attending Comic Con. Always kid at heart.
I am a recent Texas implant, getting used to my new life here in the roaring fork valley. I grew up working on old classic cars with my dad and found a more artistic side of myself when I took up aerial acrobatics. I opened my Texas teaching and entertainment company in 2015 and plan to expand into Colorado soon. When I am not hanging from bridges on my silks, you will find me and my better half rafting down the Colorado river or hiking one of our local peaks.
Mike is ASE certified and a Master Honda Tech. His love of cars came from growing up in Glenwood Springs working on classic hot rods and going to classic car shows. Cooking is also a passion, so when it came time to graduate from High School it was a tough decision for Mike. Culinary school or Auto Tech School? His passion for cars won out, and he graduated from Lincoln Tech in Denver in 2011.
Oil & Lube Technician
Casey graduated from Rifle High School in 2008. Casey has a array of hobbies that he enjoys when he isn’t working at Jim’s Automotive. With an interest in almost anything creative, you might find him painting, drawing or designing digital art on his computer. His creativity doesn’t stop there, Casey loves to Hip Hop dance too! His fondness for the automotive industry was passed down from his dad who was a diesel mechanic.
